What's Happening!

Things are always happening around the Girl Scouts of NOARK Council!

The best way to find out about the programs, educational opportunities and Camp NOARK activities is in the Girl Scouts of NOARK Council's annual Green Guide.

A quick source of deadlines, programs and trainings are available on the Council Calendar.  You can also look at the latest NOARK Naturally for a glimpse of things going on with troops and Service Units within the council.

Check back here often for more news about council events and other council news. Thank you!

What's a Day One Patch?

Girl Scouts - Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas will come into existence on October 1, 2008.  So a special patch has been created in celebration of our new council. This patch is only available to those girls and adults who register on time, which is by September 30, 2008. On time means that all girl and adult registration forms, registration fees, and financial assistance application forms are completed and received in the Girl Scout Service Center by September 30, 2008.  This includes early bird, on time, and lifetime members. If your troop has already registered for the 2009 year, you will need to click on the Day One Patch Order Form, fill it out and get it to Lora Jones at the Fayetteville Program/Service Center.  If you are a Lifetime Adult and you would like a patch, please do the same.  Thank you.

If you are interested in ordering this special one time only patch, please fill out the following form, attach the form to your registration packet, and return to your nearest Girl Scout Service Center by September 30, 2008. Patches will be ordered after the September 30th deadline. Distribution information will be communicated to members as soon as possible. On-Time Day One Patch Order Form

What is Realignment?

Council Merger 2007-2008.  If you are new to Girl Scouting or new to the NOARK Council, you have joined us during an exciting and historically significant time – the dissolution of our council (on or before October 2008), and merger with four (4) other Arkansas councils to form one (1) state-wide council.  This new direction has been mandated by the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. (GSUSA) in the hopes that girls now and in the future will continue to have exciting Girl Scout opportunities available.  You may well wonder what this means to you and to your troop: Will NOARK staff be available to assist you? Will you still be able to buy items from the Council shop in Fayetteville? Will you have the same troop number after the merger?  These are just a few questions you may have, and honestly, we don’t have all the answers yet ourselves!  Rest assured however, that the NOARK staff is determined to keep it’s membership informed and in the loop as the merger process unfolds.  Please see the updates on the realignment process.

Do You Love Horses?

NOARK Girl Scout Council has a special interest group for horse lovers.  It is the Saddle Club Group #806.   The girls will meet twice a month and have guest speakers to talk about different horse breeds, disciplines of riding, careers in the horse industry and anything to do with horses.  The meetings
will be announced as they are scheduled approximately every other week.  Troop Leaders are Cheryl Wiebe, Erin Tessman and Rebecca Gilpatrick.

Attention Saddleclub and Guests:

Hey Horse Lovers

It's time to saddle up for the 2008-2009 Girl Scout Year
(well in this case--HARNESS UP)

 Home Study Courses

Brownie Age Level and Junior Age Level training is now available as a home study course.  Although home-study lessons cannot compare to in-person training and interaction/sharing with other leaders, it is important that volunteers who cannot travel to regular council training events be afforded alternative opportunities to fulfill Council requirements to have age-level training.

Contact Lani Froelich (479-695-1828) or your Membership Specialist to have either of these modules mailed to you.  Also available for download at our website.

 Juliettes Page!

Did you know you could be a Girl Scout and not be part of a troop or group?

The Juliette program provides an opportunity for girls ages 5-17 to be a Girl Scout without being a part of a troop or group.  Juliettes can participate in all the cool fun that Girl Scouts has to offer while working on her own with a mentor of her choice.  The Juliette program is designed to fit her schedule.  Click Here for more information!
