How To Join

Did you know that girls can join Girl Scouts any time during the year?  (The Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1st until September 30th).  The start of school each year has become the traditional way in the U.S.A. that girls join Girl Scouts and adults organize new troops/groups.  In August or September it is common to see a poster announcing a recruitment event in your town or for your daughter to bring home a recruitment flyer in her school back-pack.  However, what many parents don’t realize is that girls can join any time during the year and girls should not feel discouraged if they miss the Fall recruitment drive.

At the NOARK Council the membership staff works hard all year long trying to increase membership in their assigned areas by placing newly registered girls in troops or working to train new leadership for new troops.  The membership staff also hosts special registration events in their areas throughout the year where girls and parents unfamiliar with our programs can learn by doing.  Girls registered through these ’mini’ programs are considered Independent/Juliette Girl Scouts and encouraged to join a regular troop/group if they desire to continue in scouting.  Girls and adults interested in registering as a Girl Scout will need to:
