Ways to Volunteer
(It’s not just about being a troop leader!)

There are many, many ways that you can become involved with Girl Scouts! Whether you are interested in working with girls or working with adults, we have opportunities for you!

If you enjoy working with girls, you might be interested in the following volunteer opportunities:

Leader

Responsible for the primary planning and leadership for a troop/group of girls

Co-Leader/ Assistant Leader

Part of leadership team that works with a specific troop/group

Troop Committee Member

A volunteer who give support to the troop

Program Consultant

A volunteer who designs and/or facilitates a Girl Scout program session, usually emphasizing a particular topic or skill.

School Recruiter

Recruit girls and adults. Organize and maintain Girl Scout troops in a specified school or geographic area. Place adults in volunteer positions based on individual skills and interests

Service Unit Event Coordinator

Ensure development, promotion and implement service unit events for girls.

Day Camp Director

Provide a day camp experience that supports the Girl Scout program through planning, training, implementation and evaluation.

Day Camp Volunteer

Volunteer at a day camp to provide Girl Scouts outdoor program for girls. Share a special interest or skill.

Troop Cookie Program Manager

Act as a liaison between the troop and the Service Unit Cookie Program Coordinator. Manage the annual cookie program within a specific troop.

Studio 2B Advisor

Act as an advisor and mentor for girls in grades 7-12 involved in the Girl Scout program.

Certified First Aider

Provides first aid/ CPR support to the troop when required for any activity, trip or event.

If you prefer working with adults, the following opportunities may be of interest to you:
 

Service Unit Chair

Coordinate and communicate with volunteers to ensure the delivery of the Girl Scout program within a specific geographic area. Develop and carry out the service unit plan of action

Service Unit Treasurer

Manage the financial matters of the service unit and oversee troop bank accounts within the service unit’s jurisdiction.

Service Unit Registrar

Processes all membership registrations for forwarding to the council. Maintains contact list of all service unit members.

Service Unit Cookie Program Coordinator

Coordinate the cookie programs within a specific geographic area.
 

Council Trainer

Facilitate training courses and modules for adult volunteers.

ELF

Provide support and assistance to new troop leaders within the service unit.

Member of the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are volunteers from throughout the Council jurisdiction who are elected by the Council membership at the Annual Meeting. The Board of Directors is composed of the officers and the directors, who are called members at large. The president and the officers of the board, as a group, form the leadership of the council.

Task Groups

Task groups focus on a special need in the council.  Some task groups work with girls and some with adults. Some task groups require a one-day commitment while others can be on-going.

Committee Members

Serve on a long term committees with the Board of Directors such as the Finance Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, etc.
